Dr David Power
General Dentist and Founder
Dr David Power grew up and went to school in the St George area. Graduating from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1986 he started working in Hurstville that year. After several years of study, he was awarded his Membership of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in General Dental Practice (MRACDS – GDP) in 2014. He started Power Dental Practice in 1988 and has really enjoyed caring for a whole generation of the mouths of Hurstville!
Dr Power has special interests in Implant Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Special Needs and Nursing Home Care. He has undertaken further study in Implant Dentistry and Theology. He belongs to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the Australian Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry, and the Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship of Australia.
Dr Power makes it his custom to learn more about one area of dentistry every year, or so. Some of the most notable have been Dental Operating Microscopes in 2014 (which he now uses routinely at the practice), gum rejuvenation in 2015 after training in the USA the previous year, Invisalign in 2016-17 and (of course) Infection control in 2020-21.Apart from the technical side of dentistry, Dr Power maintains greatest interest in his practice through the warmth of his long term personal relationships with his patients and staff.
With a delightful wife, son and daughter of his own, Dr Power enjoys family life, children’s work at church, gardening, cycling, junior rugby league and supports the St George/Illawarra Dragons rugby league team. His greatest unrealized ambition is to have a pony of his own.
