Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry includes a variety of dental treatments aimed at improving the appearance of teeth.

Teeth Whitening

At Power Dental Practice we have been whitening peoples teeth for over 20 years.

There are two main types of whitening systems:

  • In chair
  • Take home

However, the darker the teeth and the older the person, better results come only by using BOTH take home and in chair. For this reason we choose to use Phillips Zoom! whitening in chair and  are getting spectacular results. Contact us for more information about tooth whitening.

Orthodontic Straightening with Braces or Invisalign

Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable thin plastic aligners that you change every 2 weeks for a new set. Click here for more details about this popular alternative to traditional braces.

Porcelain Veneers or Crowns

These will improve the colour, shape or spacing of your teeth.

They may be very useful for discoloured or heavily filled teeth, or where the spacing is very awkward. These may also be suitable in some cases where a person prefers not to have orthodontic straightening of their teeth.

In some cases patients may require some tooth reduction so that these laboratory fabricated restorations may be bonded to your teeth.

Gum Lift or Rejuvenation

A gum lift or rejuvenation repositions the gum up or down to improve the appearance. Where excessive gum covers the teeth, or where there is too little from gum recession, a more aesthetic result can be achieved by relocating it to where it ought to naturally be.

Other Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments

Other treatments may be required as part of a course of cosmetic dentistry including;

  • Replacing old metal fillings with tooth-coloured restorations
  • Replacing old, stained and discoloured fillings
  • Implants
  • Bridges
  • Dentures

Referrals can also be arranged for lip augmentation or muscle relaxants (Botox) with a cosmetic surgeon.

Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to dental whitening, many people assume that all products and procedures are created equal. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, there are a variety of different whitening options available, each with their own unique benefits and drawbacks.

One of the most common types of dental whitening is over-the-counter whitening products, such as whitening toothpaste, strips, and gels. While these products can be effective at removing surface stains, they often contain lower concentrations of whitening agents and may not be as effective at removing deeper stains.

Another popular option is in-office whitening, which involves a professional dental treatment that uses a high-concentration whitening gel and a special light to accelerate the whitening process. This type of whitening is typically more effective than over-the-counter products and can produce dramatic results in just one visit.

At-home whitening kits are another option, which typically involve custom-fitted trays and a professional-strength whitening gel. While these kits can be effective, they require more time and effort than in-office treatments and may not produce results as quickly.

It's important to note that not all dental whitening products and procedures are safe for everyone. For example, individuals with sensitive teeth or gum disease may not be good candidates for certain types of whitening. It's always best to consult with a dental professional before starting any whitening treatment.

In conclusion, while all dental whitening products and procedures may seem similar, they are not created equal. It's important to consider your individual needs and consult with a dental professional to determine the best whitening option for you. At Power Dental, we offer a variety of whitening options to help you achieve a brighter, more confident smile. Contact us today to schedule a consultation!

The difference between Fillings and Fissure Sealants

Dental fissure sealants and dental fillings are both used in modern dentistry, but the fissure sealant is used more to prevent disease, while the filling is used to restore a damaged tooth after it is decayed or broken.

Fissure sealants are a preventive treatment mainly used on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars. The molars, in particular, often have deep grooves (or fissures) where food particles and bacteria can accumulate, making them prone to decay. At Power Dental Practice, your dentist or Oral Health Therapist may recommend you have you ...
